The toughest lunch reservation in the Northshire on Thursday, November 16th was at the light-filled Dorset School gymnasium. After a four year hiatus, some 350 students, parents and staff were primed for The Dorset School Thanksgiving Feast.
“Because of the pandemic and an outbreak of flu last year, our third graders and younger kids have never been able to attend the Feast with guests,” said TDS Principal Rossana Moran. “And for the older students it was just a distant memory. It’s good to have the school family back together again.”
To accommodate the crowd, TDS set up two seatings: one for kindergartners through fourth graders followed by a second with fifth through eighth graders at noon. At both gatherings parents, grandparents, younger siblings and staff joined the students.
The Dorset Parent Volunteers (DPV) raised their hand to help out by acting as servers handling two lunch lines at each session and working with student volunteers to decorate the gym the night before. The festive feel was enhanced by the Equinox Valley Nursery which donated pumpkins and gourds for table centerpieces. The kitchen staff at TDS, meanwhile, pulled out all the stops preparing a holiday meal with all the fix-ins.
It was an assembly to be thankful for.
