The weather outside was threatening, but inside the Sunderland Elementary School (SES) a standing room only crowd was treated to an evening of delight. Students from all grades played instruments, sang, danced, drummed, and enchanted an audience to the sounds of the Sunderland Winter Concert.
“These kids have worked so hard this year,” said SES Principal Jenn Turner. “It’s wonderful for them to perform onstage in front of their friends and families. It was a great night for everyone.”
First year Sunderland united arts teacher Monica Schwartz orchestrated the performance with a helping hand from SES teachers and staff. “The turnout from the Sunderland community was fantastic,” said Schwartz. “The audience generated energy and the kids were terrific.”
